Grain ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Grain mobile application and web application (collectively, "the App").

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you use the Grain web app, you sign in using Google authentication or a magic email link. Through this process, we collect your email address and basic profile information (such as your display name) provided by Google or entered during sign-up. Account-based sign-in will also be available on the mobile app in a future update.

Activity data: When you use Grain, you log daily activities across life pillars (such as Career, Body & Mind, Learning, etc.). On the web app, this data is stored securely in the cloud using Supabase so that your progress is saved across sessions. On the mobile app, this data is currently stored locally on your device; cloud sync is planned for a future update to enable cross-platform access to your data.

Analytics data: We may collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the App experience. This includes general usage patterns, app opens, and feature usage. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain the App's functionality
• Authenticate your identity and secure your account
• Sync and persist your activity data across sessions and platforms
• Understand how users interact with the App to improve features
• Fix bugs and improve performance

3. Data Storage

Mobile app: Your habit tracking data is currently stored locally on your device. If you uninstall the mobile app, your locally stored data will be deleted. In a future update, the mobile app will offer cloud sync via Supabase, at which point your data will also be stored in the cloud as described below.

Web app: Your account and activity data is stored securely on Supabase servers located in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany). Your data is protected by row-level security policies, meaning only you can access your own data. If you delete your account, your cloud-stored data will be removed.

Cross-platform sync: Once cloud sync is available on both platforms, your data will be accessible across the mobile and web apps using the same account. You will be able to manage and delete your synced data from either platform.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase — for authentication (Google OAuth, magic link) and cloud data storage. Currently used on the web app; planned for the mobile app in a future update. Supabase processes your email address and stores your activity data. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
• Google — for authentication via Google Sign-In. Google may share your email address and basic profile information with us. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Mixpanel — for anonymous usage analytics. See Mixpanel's Privacy Policy.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third-party services.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not share your data with third parties except as described in this Privacy Policy or as required by law.

6. Children's Privacy

Grain is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information collected through the App, including the use of row-level security on our database and secure authentication protocols. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at the email address below. On the web app, you can delete your account and data through the Settings screen.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or on our website. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
