Terms of Service

Welcome to Grain. By downloading, installing, or using the Grain mobile application or web application (collectively, "the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

1. Use of the App

Grain is a personal habit tracking application designed to help you invest small amounts of time daily across life improvement pillars. The App is provided for personal, non-commercial use.

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

2. Accounts and Authentication

The Grain web app requires you to sign in using Google authentication or a magic email link. By creating an account, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

The Grain mobile app currently does not require an account and stores data locally on your device. Account-based sign-in and cloud sync will be added to the mobile app in a future update, at which point these account terms will apply to both platforms.

3. User Content

Any data you enter into the App (daily logs, pillar selections, notes) is your content. You retain full ownership of your content.

On the web app, your data is stored securely in the cloud using Supabase to enable persistence across sessions. On the mobile app, your data is currently stored locally on your device; cloud sync is planned for a future update to enable cross-platform access. We do not claim any rights over your content beyond what is necessary to provide the service.

4. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, graphics, logos, and content, is owned by Grain and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App without our prior written consent.

5. App Availability

We strive to keep the App available and functional, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may update, modify, or discontinue the App (or any part of it, including the mobile app, web app, or specific features) at any time without prior notice. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by the App's unavailability.

The web app relies on third-party services (including Supabase for authentication and data storage) that may experience downtime or service interruptions outside our control.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, secure, or meet your specific requirements.

Grain is not a substitute for professional advice. The App provides general self-improvement tracking and should not replace professional medical, financial, or other expert guidance.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Grain shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App, regardless of the cause of action. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data, whether stored locally or in the cloud.

8. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

9. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on our website and within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. For the mobile app, uninstalling currently removes your locally stored data (once cloud sync is enabled, cloud-stored data will persist until you delete your account). For the web app, you may sign out or request account deletion through Settings or by contacting us. We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the App for any user who violates these Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
